What is Healthy Hooves™?
Healthy Hooves™ is a triple buffered, patented and safe acid that reduces the pH of the water in a footbath to about 2.0 which allows for less copper sulphate to be used and enables 500 or more cows to use the footbath before the bath has to be changed.
Why Healthy Hooves™ Works?
Copper dissolved in water is toxic to bacteria. The lower the pH of the water the more effective the copper is against bacteria. The addition of Healthy Hooves™ to a footbath reduces the pH, which reduces the amount of Copper Sulphate required to be an effective preventative. The buffering in Healthy Hooves™ provides a consistent low pH that is resistant to pH increases, which typically occur with the drag-in of manure. This allows more cows to pass through the footbath and receive effective preventative treatment.
How Healthy Hooves™ Is Used?
Step 1: Use one gallon of Healthy Hooves™ for every 50 gallons of water in the footbath to lower the pH to about 1.9 to 2.0. Water hardness makes no difference.
Step 2: Add ONLY 5-10 pounds of COPPER SULPHATE to the footbath.
The footbath is now ready for a 500+ cow throughput. (Note: Every farm will be different. Amount of Copper Sulphate will vary depending on farm management techniques. See Footbath Instruction Sheets for more detailed make-up instructions)
